Over 50 solitary young refugees who went missing shortly after arriving the UK and while in the care of the authorities are still missing, according to data acquired.

Numerous of the vanished youths entered in small boats or hidden in the backs of vehicles and are thought to have been taken by criminal networks. A specific county is frequently the place where they initially reach.

Government Figures Shows Alarming Numbers

Publicly available records has documented 345 children disappearing from the region, with 56 of those still missing.

From 2021 and 2023, when two hotels for children were run along with other sites in various locations, 132 children went missing from the accommodations. Among them, 108 were subsequently located but 24 are yet to be found.

From 2020 and August 2025, 213 children vanished from reception centres for such children, with 182 recovered and 32 still missing.

Nationality Breakdown of Missing Children

Agencies also refer children to processes and support networks to help mitigate the threat of exploitation in the UK, involving the government assessment process and the dedicated advocacy service. "Nonetheless it is challenging to halt every minor from going missing."
